Can I use my insurance for Outro?
Yes! Outro now accepts insurance through our partnership with Headway. Here's what you need to know.
Which insurance plans are accepted?
Outro accepts a wide range of commercial insurance plans through Headway. Accepted plans vary by state and are expanding regularly. To check whether your specific plan is accepted, book an evaluation or email hello@outro.com and our team will verify your coverage.
How does insurance billing work?
If you have an accepted insurance plan, here's how it works:
- Membership fee: $99/month covers your taper plan, symptom tracking tools, between-visit messaging, peer support groups, and educational resources.
- Clinician visits: Billed through your insurance via Headway. You'll pay your plan's copay for each visit.
How to set up insurance billing
- During onboarding (or anytime after), let us know you'd like to use insurance.
- We'll guide you through setting up your Headway profile and verifying your plan.
- Once confirmed, your clinician visits will be billed through insurance going forward.
If you're currently on self-pay and want to switch to insurance (or vice versa), see our article "How do I switch between self-pay and insurance billing?"
What about copays?
Your copay amount depends on your specific insurance plan. Most patients pay between $0–$30 per visit, but this can change at the start of a new plan year or if your plan changes. We'll help you understand your expected costs before you get started.
What if my insurance isn't accepted?
If your plan isn't currently accepted through Headway, you can still join Outro as a self-pay member. We can also provide a superbill (itemized invoice) that you can submit to your insurance for possible out-of-network reimbursement — many patients use this for FSA/HSA reimbursement too.
Email hello@outro.com or message us through the Outro portal if you have questions about your coverage.
