Made an account selection you'd like to change? No problem — our team can help you switch between self-pay and insurance-based billing.

Switching from self-pay to insurance

If you selected the self-pay option but would like to use your insurance instead, here's what to do:

  1. Send us your insurance details — either through the Outro portal or email care@outro.com. We'll need:
    • First and last name on the insurance card
    • Plan name (e.g., Aetna, Premera Blue Cross)
    • Member ID
    • Group ID
  2. Or simply send a photo of the front of your insurance card.
  3. We'll verify your benefits — through our insurance billing partner, Headway. We'll let you know your copay and whether your plan is accepted.
  4. Set up your Headway account — Headway will send you an email to complete a few required forms and add your copay payment information.
  5. If eligible, we'll refund your self-pay evaluation fee and you can book an insurance-based appointment.

Switching from insurance to self-pay

If your insurance plan is no longer accepted or you'd prefer to pay out of pocket, just let us know and we'll transition you to one of our self-pay membership plans.

Important notes

  • Not all insurance plans are accepted — acceptance depends on whether your specific plan is in-network with our clinicians via Headway.
  • Insurance-based membership still has a monthly membership fee ($99/month or $79/month quarterly), with appointments billed separately through your insurance.
  • Your copay amount is determined by your individual insurance benefits.
