What if it's been a while since my last appointment — do I need a reassessment?
Life happens — sometimes patients step away from their taper for a few months and want to come back to Outro, or they realize their last clinician visit was a while ago. Here’s what to expect.
The 90-day rule
If it has been more than 90 days since your last clinician visit, we’ll need to schedule a reassessment appointment before continuing your taper or issuing new prescriptions. This is a clinical safety standard that ensures your care team has the most up-to-date picture of your health, medications, and goals before making dose changes.
What a reassessment looks like
- Length: 40 minutes (compared to a standard 20-minute follow-up).
- What we cover: A full review of your current medication and dose, any symptoms you’ve experienced during the gap, and any life or health changes.
Common scenarios
“I was approved months ago but never started.”
If you completed an Evaluation but didn’t enroll within ~90 days, you’ll need a brief reassessment before starting. Your previous evaluation is still on file, so the visit focuses on confirming your current medication, dose, and readiness to begin.
“I paused my subscription and want to come back.”
If your pause was under 90 days, we can reactivate your membership and pick up where you left off. If it’s been longer, a reassessment is required before resuming your taper. See Can I pause my Outro subscription? for more.
“I have nothing new to discuss — do I still need an appointment?”
Yes. Even if you’re feeling stable, we’re required to do a reassessment after 90 days before issuing prescriptions or updating your plan. Think of it as a check-in to make sure nothing has changed that would affect your taper.
How to book
- Sign in to the Outro Portal and visit your Appointments page.
- Choose a reassessment visit time with your clinician. If you don’t see availability, message the care team and we’ll help get you scheduled.
- If you’re unsure which visit type to book, reach out at care@outro.com.
Refills during the gap
If you’re running low on medication while waiting for a reassessment, let us know as soon as possible. Your clinician may be able to issue a short bridge prescription to cover you until the visit, depending on the situation.
