Can I pause my Outro subscription?
Yes — if you need to take a break from Outro, you can pause your subscription. Here's how it works.
How to pause
Send us a message through your Outro portal or email hello@outro.com and let us know you'd like to pause. Our team will take care of it.
What happens when you pause
- Billing is suspended — you won't be charged while your subscription is paused.
- Your data is saved — your taper plan, symptom tracking history, and session notes are all preserved.
- Your care team is notified — so they're aware and can provide any guidance before the pause takes effect.
- Peer support groups are not available — access to weekly peer support groups is suspended while your subscription is paused.
How long can I pause?
You can pause your subscription for up to 90 days. After 90 days, a reassessment with your clinician is required before resuming your taper — this ensures your care plan is still appropriate and safe after an extended break.
Consider the Taper Platform plan instead
If you're holding your dose and want to stay connected to Outro's support resources without committing to a monthly visit, our Taper Platform plan ($99/month, or $79/month with quarterly billing) may be a good alternative to pausing. It includes:
- Access to weekly peer support groups
- Symptom tracking tools
- Between-visit messaging with your care team
- Educational resources
- Clinician visits available on-demand at $175 each
This way, you can maintain access to peer support and your care team while lowering your monthly cost. Ask us about switching if you're interested.
Before you pause
We recommend talking with your clinician first, especially if you're actively tapering. Pausing mid-taper requires careful planning to ensure your safety:
- Your clinician can advise on whether it's a safe time to pause
- They'll make sure you have enough medication to cover the pause period
- You'll get guidance on what to watch for while you're on break
Resuming your subscription
When you're ready to come back, just reach out the same way — message us through the portal or email hello@outro.com. We'll reactivate your subscription and help you pick up where you left off.
If your pause has been longer than 90 days, we'll schedule a reassessment visit with your clinician before resuming your taper plan.
